Audiophile playback depends on the whole route, not the source label alone. Dkompos treats source format, decode, DSP, gain, stream format, device route, and runtime health as one evidence chain, then shows the result while the music is playing.

Dkompos shows Bit-Perfect only when a qualifying stereo 16-bit or 24-bit PCM source is playing at its native rate through a verified direct, non-mixable CoreAudio route, with DSP bypassed and software gain at unity. The badge is revoked whenever that evidence changes.

Your music library stays on your Mac.
Dkompos does not require an account or upload the music collection. Library metadata, listening context, and audio analysis are kept with the application on the Mac. The website has no library access and is only used to distribute the signed application and receive optional feedback.

What the audio claims mean.
Is Dkompos bit-perfect?
It can be, when the complete route qualifies. Dkompos only shows Bit-Perfect for qualifying stereo 16-bit or 24-bit lossless PCM at its native rate, with DSP bypassed, software gain at unity, value-preserving integer output, and a verified direct CoreAudio route.
Can I use Dkompos with an external DAC?
Yes. The Now Playing view shows the active output device, negotiated stream format, and route evidence. A compatible DAC and route can qualify for Bit-Perfect; Dkompos changes the state if that evidence changes.
Do EQ, ReplayGain, or software volume stay bit-perfect?
No. EQ, crossfeed, ReplayGain, resampling, software volume, and channel adaptation use a managed processed path. Dkompos labels that state instead of preserving a false Bit-Perfect badge.
Does Dkompos output native DSD?
No. DSD, DSF, and DFF sources are converted to PCM for playback and labelled Converted. Dkompos does not make a native DSD bitstream claim.
Does Dkompos replace a streaming service?
No. Dkompos is built around music files already stored on your Mac or in folders you choose to scan.
Which Macs can run it?
The current public build requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or newer. Intel Macs are not supported by this build.
Is the download trusted by macOS?
The public DMG is signed with an Apple Developer ID, notarised by Apple, and stapled. Its SHA-256 checksum is published with the release notes.
